What Is the 2019 Ford Expedition?
The Ford Expedition full-size SUV was redesigned last year. Offered in regular- and extended-length Max form, the Expedition seats up to eight people in three rows. The Expedition is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 engine that makes 375 or 400 horsepower, depending on the trim level. The V-6 teams with a 10-speed automatic transmission, and rear- and four-wheel-drive models are offered. Competitors include the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, Toyota Sequoia and Nissan Armada.

What’s New on the 2019 Ford Expedition?
The dual-zone automatic air conditioning is now tri-zone automatic air conditioning. There’s also a new Stealth Edition Package that adds an assortment of gloss black exterior accents as well as a Texas Edition Package.

What Features in the 2019 Ford Expedition Are Most Important?
While seating for eight is standard, the Expedition offers second-row bucket seats that reduce seating capacity to seven but make it easier to access the third row. A power-folding third-row seat is standard. When equipped with four-wheel drive, there’s a Terrain Management System and hill descent control. Ford’s Pro Trailer Backup Assist aims to make reversing with a trailer less of a white-knuckled task.

Ford's Sync 3 multimedia system is standard and features an 8-inch touchscreen and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity. Available convenience features include a hands-free foot-activated liftgate, a heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats, 4G LTE connectivity with a Wi-Fi hot spot, leather upholstery, a panoramic moonroof and wireless device charging.

Available active safety features include adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, lane-keeping assist, blind spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert and forward collision warning. Inflatable second-row seat belts are also available.

Should I Buy the 2019 Ford Expedition?
The big Expedition has plenty of capability — it'll tow up to 9,300 pounds when properly equipped — and it offers lots of tech features. The Expedition is roomy, rides well and has a powerful drivetrain. It's pricey and towing disproportionately drags down fuel economy, but the Expedition is an impressive full-size SUV overall. It also won our 2018 Full-Size SUV Challenge.
