What Is the 2019 Audi A3?
The A3 is Audi's entry-level car and is available as a five-seat sedan or four-seat convertible. The sedan also is offered in performance-oriented S3 guise and in high-performance RS3 trim.

Front-drive A3 models use a 184-horsepower, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine; all-wheel-drive A3s have 228 hp. The S3 sedan has a 288-hp, turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder and AWD. The AWD RS3’s 2.5-liter five-cylinder generates 394 hp. All versions feature a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Competitors include the BMW 2 Series and Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class.

What’s New on the 2019 Audi A3?
The Premium trim adds standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A3 Premium Plus and Prestige trims get standard LED headlights, LED taillights and the Audi phone box with wireless charging and signal booster. Park assist, a new feature that maneuvers the car during parallel and perpendicular parking, is standard on A3 and S3 Prestige sedans. The RS3 adds the Audi phone box as standard.

What Features in the 2019 Audi A3 Are Most Important?
All-wheel drive has been a hallmark of Audi’s lineup for decades, and it's standard or available on all variants of the A3 line. The compact-size A3 offers a boatload of features found on larger luxury models, including a panoramic moonroof (on sedans), leather upholstery, heated front seats and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Moving up to higher trim levels to get navigation, LED headlights, adaptive cruise control and other features can push the price to more than $45,000.

Should I Buy the 2019 Audi A3?
Good things do come in small packages, and the A3 line offers a high level of convenience and refinement, along with sprightly performance. However, it’s short on backseat room and, with all-wheel drive, cargo room, and the price climbs quickly with higher trim levels and by adding optional features.

Audi SQ5
Price Range     $52,400–$52,400
Consumer Rating     (4.6)5 reviews
MPG (Miles per gallon)     21
Body Styles     SUV

What Is the 2019 Audi Q5?
The Q5 is Audi's entry in the booming compact luxury SUV market, and it competes with the Acura RDX, BMW X3, Lexus NX, Lincoln MKC and Mercedes-Benz GLC. It was redesigned for 2018, when it gained slightly larger dimensions, more technology and a single powertrain (a 248-horsepower, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and all-wheel drive). The sporty SQ5 version comes with a turbo 3.0-liter V-6 that makes 349 hp and works with an eight-speed automatic.

What's New on the 2019 Audi Q5?
New standard features on the Q5 include standard heated front seats, electric rear child locks, Audi Connect Care, a 7-inch driver infotainment display and roof crossbars. The Premium Plus trim level adds newly standard navigation, USB charge ports for rear passengers and wireless phone charging. A parking assistance system is now included on the Prestige trim. The SQ5 adds a less expensive Premium base trim level with standard LED headlights and taillights, plus eight-way power, heated front seats.

What Features in the 2019 Audi Q5 Are Most Important?
Standard equipment includes all-wheel drive and forward collision warning with autonomous braking, while adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist and a 360-degree camera system are among the Q5's desirable options. The optional Virtual Cockpit includes a high-resolution 12.3-inch screen that can be configured to suit the driver's tastes, though operating it (as well as Audi's multimedia and control system) requires a steep learning curve and patience to master the many functions. The SQ5 comes with a standard adaptive suspension, and a sport adaptive air suspension is optional.

Should I Buy the 2019 Audi Q5?
We enjoy driving the Q5 and SQ5 because they provide brisk performance, capable handling and the assurance of all-wheel drive, plus ample room for four occupants (five in a pinch) and plenty of cargo room. Audi also offers a lot of infotainment technology, though some of it isn't intuitive or easy to use on the fly. With several luxury compact SUVs available as alternatives, it would be wise to shop some competitors.

Audi e-tron
Price Range     $74,800–$74,800
Consumer Rating     (4.7)3 reviews
MPG (Miles per gallon)     74
Body Styles     SUV

Audi’s new all-electric 2019 e-tron SUV, a five-seat mid-size model with all-wheel drive, feels like a normal, non-electric SUV in ways some electric vehicles don’t, which could be to its benefit in the market — or its detriment. Only time will tell. It also feels very much like an Audi, especially to anyone who has driven a recent model. And to someone like me who has participated in many Cars.com Challenges — our multivehicle comparison tests — it has the hallmarks of Audi models that rank high or win the day by performing well in a wide range of respects … despite eliciting less emotion than competitors. Headlines (which I seldom write, even at Cars.com) about new luxury EVs often try to gin up interest by calling them “Tesla fighters.” If I were to play along, I’d characterize this fighter as a conventional boxer and the Tesla Model X SUV as a mixed martial artist.

Now open for reservations nationwide, the e-tron starts at $75,795 for the Premium Plus (all prices include destination charges) and is eligible for a $7,500 federal tax credit. It’s also available on a three-year lease that incorporates the tax incentive for $2,000 down and $942 per month. I tested an e-tron Prestige ($82,795) at an Audi media event that began in Yountville, Calif., and ended in Lake Tahoe, Nev., covering 219 miles and roughly 7,000 miles of elevation. It also included one stop to recharge.
