What Is the 2019 Mazda CX-5?
The Mazda CX-5 compact SUV seats five and offers a choice of two four-cylinder engines: a 187-horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder or a newly available 227-hp, turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder. Both engines work with a six-speed automatic transmission, and front- and all-wheel-drive models are offered. The CX-5 competes with the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4 and Ford Escape. Mazda has announced a new diesel engine for the 2020 CX-5.

What’s New on the 2019 Mazda CX-5?
A new Signature model joins the lineup as the top trim level, while the newly available turbocharged four-cylinder makes 227 hp on regular gas or 250 hp on premium. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity are included on all but the base Sport trim. Other newly available features include a digital instrument cluster and a 360-degree camera system.

What Features in the 2019 Mazda CX-5 Are Most Important?
Standard features include 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, a 40/20/40-split backseat, a 7-inch touchscreen multimedia system, air conditioning, Bluetooth streaming audio, cruise control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, push-button start and blind spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert.

Available active safety features include forward collision warning with low-speed automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability. Available luxury features include heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, Nappa leather upholstery and wood trim.

Should I Buy the 2019 Mazda CX-5?
The CX-5 delivers an above-average driving experience thanks to excellent steering and handling and a responsive drivetrain. Its quiet interior and cabin materials are also noteworthy. Where it comes up short versus the competition is in overall interior space.
