Mired Down In The Bog: Buried To The Frame At The Buck Motorsports Mud Bog

Ah, mud, the final frontier for keeping your foot buried to the floor for as long as you dare. The only thing stopping you from redlining your engine until the fuel is gone is the threat of blowing your engine, catching something on fire or digging yourself halfway to China in the process. Otherwise…hope your tires can fling saturated earth off fast enough to remain clean, hope you have enough momentum to keep pressing onwards and have a plan for when the first two points inevitably fail. You can wade in, play the slow game and keep the tires spinning while you work the steering wheel back and forth for every precious inch, or you can take a running start and hope and pray that you’ll skip over the top like a two-ton stone and emerge from the other side of the pit without a problem. A suggestion? Have a friend with a tractor or bulldozer handy, you’ll probably need them to drag your sorry hide out of the muck.

This footage comes to us from the Buck Motorsports Mud Bog up in Quarryville, Pennsylvania. You’ll see overkill race rigs that have no problem dancing over the surface like it’s no big thing. And you’ll have trucks that probably drove to the event wade in and see how far luck and hope will stretch out before it’s time to motion for the rescue crew to come and pull them from the mud bog…which, strangely, I want to liken to a bowl of oatmeal: kind of soupy, kind of chunky, guaranteed to be problematic for four-wheel-drives of all shapes and sizes.
